Dear friend,
I love to blog but blogging is not my main job. By day, I am a ‘granny-nanny’. I care for 3 of my grandchildren and I absolutely love it. I thank God each and every day that I have the strength and endurance for the day to care for a 2 ½ year old, a 16-month-old and a new born. I’m with my 2 ½ year old 4 days a week and the 2 younger ones 1 day a week. I cherish my time with each of my grandchildren. There is a strong and loving bond developing between us and whether or not they’ll remember these days I will always cherish them.
When I return home from babysitting, needless to say, I am a bit tuckered out but my go-to to relax activity is not to plop myself down to watch television. I believe television robs one of the more important things in life like spending time with your spouse, enjoying dinner, catching up with family and friends on the phone, catching up on reading that pile of books next to your favorite chair.
The television industry has created and they continue to create a variety of programs so you’re more than likely to find something of interest. People enjoy escaping from the outside world with a myriad of television programs made available to them. If after a busy day television is your go-to to relax and unwind activity I understand, especially since the TV industry offers and temps you with such a vast array of genres.
As for me and my house we have a very simple TV antenna affording us only a select group of basic TV channels and we prefer it this way. We do enjoy a good movie mainly on the weekends but our real joy and relaxation comes from books.
It may interest you to know that many of the television and internet program genres; adventure, love stories, mysteries, drama even some comedy, can be found in one single book; the Bible. It may further interest you that according to the 2021 Guinness Book of World Records, over 5 billion copies of the Christian Bible were sold*. Definitely check it out.
Since January, I started reading and have been keeping up my reading of a One Year Bible. I’m so thrilled I did. The One Year Bible offers a daily reading in 3 parts; one from the Old Testament, one from Psalms and/or Proverbs and one from the New Testament. Quality time that all together it takes approximately 15-20 minutes per day.
There were many Books in the Bible that I may not have bothered to read but since challenging myself to reading the One Year Bible I have learned so much more about God’s Word. This a Reading you cannot afford to miss.
And, unlike me, you don’t have to wait for the beginning of the year to start. Start right now. You won’t be disappointed.
In fact, permit me to challenge you to give up some of your television viewing and devote time to reading God’s word. It will help you to grow in a spiritual direction that will bring you closer to God. It will also give you a clearer understanding of His commandments, ordinances and statues.

Prayer
Dear God, help me to stop living life without seeking your direction first and foremost. Help me put important priories in order. If I spend too much time watching television help me to limit my viewing time. Encourage me to make better use of that time by reading your Word. Inspire me get to know you better and to grow closer to you. Help me understand what you want of me. Use me to help make my life and our world a better place.
Bless and protect the people of the Ukraine and all those fighting to help them keep their freedom and their country.
