“The spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him: a spirit of wisdom and of understanding, a spirit of counsel and of strength, a spirit of knowledge and of fear of the Lord” (Isaiah 11:2)

Dear friend, since my parish has been focusing on the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit this Easter Season, I have not been able to ignore the fact that each and every one of these benevolent gifts bestowed on us from Baptism by God are key to leading a holy and righteousness life.

In my research for more information on the gifts I came across a book by the Most Reverend Arthur J. Serratelli, STD, SSL, DD entitled The Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit, ISBN 978-1-947070-23-3 © 2018 Catholic Book Publishing Corp., N.J.

I recommend this book to anyone interested in understanding more about the gifts and how they seriously impact one’s life.

Here is a peak of this marvelous book found on page 8 in the Introduction:

‘Jesus alone possessed the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit in their fullness. But, the Holy Spirit graciously gives those same gifts to all who follow Jesus. In Baptism, we are clothed with Christ and become a member of His Body the Church, sharing in His dignity as priest, prophet, and king. In Confirmation, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit so that through His holy anointing, we “may be conformed more perfectly to Christ, the Son of God” (The Rite of Confirmation). As St. Paul teaches, “For those whom he foreknew he also predestined those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son…” (Rom 8:29). Through the grace of Baptism and Confirmation, we take on the identity of Christ. We become one with Him and come to share those seven gifts given to Him as Messiah. Blessed with the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, we continue His work in our world.’

Please, I urge you to obtain a copy of this very inexpensive but richly rewarding book. As you study each and every one of the gifts, open your heart and mind to the truth found within each gift and apply them to your life.

Prayers:

O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

Dear Lord, let us not forget to pray for the people and country of the Ukraine as they battle for their God given right for independence. We humbly ask this in your Son’s name our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen.

May God be with you and may He continue to protect and guide you and yours!

Peace, love, joy and thanksgiving in Christ Jesus, our Savior!
