I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me. Psalm 30

Dear friend,

In Sunday’s Gospel according to John 21:1-19 three times Jesus asked Simon Peter, “do you love me……?” and Peter replied 3 times, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” And then the first time Jesus replied “Feed my lambs”, the second time “Tend my sheep” and the third time “Feed my sheep”.

The Biblical phrases ‘feed my lambs’, ‘tend my sheep’ or ‘feed my lambs’, have been said to imply ‘take care of my people/the church, share my Word, do good works for others.

We all have the ability and the capacity to do good for others, especially those in desperate need; physically, spiritually and emotionally. On top of that, we are all very capable of praying for those less fortunate. So, if Jesus were to ask you today, ‘my friend, do you love me’? What will you answer? And if you love Him, will you feed, tend, care for his people? With the help of the Holy Spirit, I pray you will.

Prayer:

God our Father, we humbly ask you to show mercy and forgiveness towards us, your humble servants. Fill our hearts with your divine love that we in turn will love others and care for others.

Please continue to watch over Ukraine, its people, their valiant soldiers and their dedicated leaders who are fighting for their freedom. Bless and strengthen those helping the refugees find the resources necessary to help ease their already heavy burdens.

Forgive the sins of the perpetrators. Fill them with your Holy Spirit to give them a ‘heart of flesh’ that they may see the error of their actions and put an end to the violence and destruction.  Oh God, please bring about the end of this senseless war. Help the people of the Ukraine rebuild their lives and their country.

We humbly ask this in the name of your Son, our Lord and Savior, Amen.

May God be with you and may He continue to protect and guide you and yours!

Peace, love, joy and thanksgiving in Christ Jesus, our Savior!
