Deliver us, O Lord!

Dear friend,

Today’s morning prayer intersessions or prayer intentions – are appropriate not only for the 1st Sunday of Lent but for the situation in our world today. (taken from the March issue of the Magnificat prayer book, page 89):

Let us pray to God, who protects us from evil by the power of the Word:

From every temptation to mistrust: Deliver us, O Lord

From every temptation to think ourselves gods: Deliver us, O Lord!

From every temptation to material satisfactions: Deliver us, O Lord!

From every temptation to power and privilege: Deliver us, O Lord!

If you have a personal intention please pray it now _______: Deliver us, O Lord!

When we witness or personally experience evil in the world, our first temptation may be to mistrust the power of God to help us but aways, always remember that God is the Almighty One who knows far more than we could ever imagine. The evils of our world abound so trust Him to take care of this world, for the horrible strife going on in the Ukraine, the violence in our cities, the discord between families.

From the evils of this world, Deliver us, O Lord!

Prayer:

Almighty and merciful God, help us to always trust in you and your will for our world. Help us to accept your will whatever it may be for you taught us to pray, “not my will but your will be done”. And remember, as it is written in Proverbs 3:5-6 – 5Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. 6In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

May God be with you and may He continue to protect and guide you and yours!

Peace, love, joy and thanksgiving in Christ Jesus, our Savior!
