‘Proclaim his marvelous deeds to all the nations.’ Psalm 96

Dear friend,

Personally speaking, one can never have too many Bibles. My Catholic Bible is my go to but I also have other translations including one entitled The American Patriot’s Bible based on the New King James Version with prayers written by historical figures and prominent citizens. As I was reading through it I came across an interesting letter that I would like to share with you entitled America on It’s Knees:

Our Father In heaven,

We pray that You save us from ourselves,

The world that You have made for us, to live in peace, we have made into an armed camp. We live in fear of war to come. We are afraid of “the terror that flies by night, and the arrow that flies by day, the pestilence that walks in darkness and the destruction that wastes at noon-day.”

We have turned from You to go our selfish way. We have broken Your commandments and denied Your truth. We have left Your altars to serve the false gods of money and pleasure and power.

Forgive us and help us.

Now, darkness gathers around us, and we are confused in all our counsels. Losing faith in You we lose faith in ourselves.

Inspire us with wisdom, all of us of every color, race, and creed, to use our wealth, our strength to help our brother, instead of destroying him. Help us to do Your will as it is done in heaven and to be worthy of Your promise of peace on earth. Fill us with new faith, new strength and new courage, that we may win the Battle for Peace.

Be swift to save us, dear God, before the darkness falls.

A prayer written by a someone who was no stranger to a world of wealth and fortune but also to a world in serious trouble; a successful business person who felt the need and thought it important enough to publish it on full-page ads in major magazines on a major holiday in our country.

I will reveal the name of this individual next week but for now I hope you will take in the words of this prayer offering it up to God as the author of the prayer intended.

Several months ago, I was dealing with a very painful sciatic nerve issue and what really helped me, and continues to help me today, are some exercises my physical therapist gave me to do daily and I do them faithfully to avoid the pain and suffering I endured before the exercises.

We’re human and calamities of all kinds befall us whether they are physical, mental or spiritual. So, like exercises to care for our physical ailments, we need to find those spiritual exercises to help us through the pain and suffering and grow stronger as a result.

I have had and will continue to have spiritual and mental fallouts but the spiritual exercises that have helped me are reading my Bible and praying each and every day or whenever the urge arises.

My friend, if you have had a mental and or spiritual calamity or are currently going through one, please take time every day to read your Bible and pray, really pray asking God to save you and lift you up.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, help us to proclaim your marvelous deeds and share your Word with our troubled world. ‘Inspire us with wisdom, all of us of every color, race, and creed, to use our wealth, our strength to help our brother, instead of destroying him.’ Fill us with the light of your love and grace that we may help those who are dealing with physical, mental and spiritual calamities leading them out of a world of darkness into the light of your Truth. In the name of Jesus Christ our Savior, Amen.

May God be with you and may He continue to protect and guide you and yours!

Peace, love, joy and thanksgiving in Christ Jesus, our Savior!
