“Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3-4

Dear friend, this past Sunday I sat in the pew behind a family with 2 little boys approximately 6 and 4. I was touched by their fine behavior during the Mass admiring their sweet expressions as the Mass was celebrated especially during Communion when they crossed their little arms over their chests looking up at Father while he blessed them. How simple their little lives are.

Jesus wants our lives to be simple. He asks us to turn and become like children; to humble ourselves like a little child that we may achieve the Kingdom of Heaven.

Humility is a truly admirable trait. It allows us to be open to everyone and everything that life has to offer. Humility is the opposite of pridefulness and how can we forget that it was pride that forced us out of Heaven. If Adam and Eve had only been like little children; obedient, humble, innocent and kind we would all be enjoying Heaven right now looking up to, worshiping and adoring God our Father, His Son, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

Ask yourself, am I willing to become like a little child, to be more obedient, humble, innocent and kind in the eyes of God? I hope you will say yes because it’s well worth the goal of the Kingdom of Heaven if you do.

Prayer:

Heavenly loving Father, help us to put aside our troubles, worries, differences; to remember what it was like to be a little child; obedient, humble, innocent and kind. Instill in us the gifts of humility, innocence and kindness that we may grow closer to you; trusting you to love and care for us the way a loving father does. We ask this in your Son’s name, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen

May God be with you and may He continue to protect you and yours!

Peace, love and joy in Christ Jesus, our Savior!
