Lord, let us see your kindness, and grant us your salvation. Psalm 85:8

Dear friend,

Peace be with you and yours! Today’s readings: Amos 7:12-15, Psalm 85, the Letter of Saint Paul to the Ephesians 1:3-14 and the holy Gospel according to Mark 6:7-13 bring glad news of salvation.

Sitting in church today, our Lectors/readers, of the Bible reminded me of that facinating group of show entertiners known as fire breathers but unlike fire breathing entertainers who amaze and yet risk their health for their audience, the readers of God’s Word amaze but risk nothing and gain everything. To proclaim the Word of God is like breathing fire over those willing to listen and the power behind the Word of God is so awesome that one is filled with a firey charge and wonder. God asks us to share His Good News but you don’t need to stand and read from the Bible but perhaps simply memorize some of your favorite phrases from the Bible and share them in a conversation with friends, family or new acquaintances. Perhaps you could inscribe them in a greeting card or attach them as part of your email signature. This too would be spreading the Good News; then pray for the Holy Spirit to do the rest. Have faith in the Holy Spirit for: ‘when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. (Through you) He will speak, He will declare and He will glorify.‘ John 16:13-14

As St. Paul writes in his letter to the Philippians: ‘I thank my God ever time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:3-6

Prayer:

Almighty God and Father, with the help of the Holy Spirit and our Lord Jesus Christ, inspire us to share the Good News of the Bible each and every day. Fill our hearts with your unfailing love and help us to share that love with others. Continue to bless and protect those afflicted and affected by COVID and to those administering relief. We ask this in the name of your Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen

May God be with you and may He continue to protect you and yours!

Peace, love and joy in Christ Jesus, our Savior!
