Dear friend, would you say you are conscientious? Do you know many family and friends who are conscientious? Being around a conscientious person is a true blessing since when someone possesses this virtue you know you are in capable hands.
Psychology Today writes in an article ‘7 Things Conscientious People Will Never Do – Struggling to adapt to the real world? This trait could help you succeed., Posted May 22, 2017 (https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-gen-y-guide/201705/7-things-conscientious-people-will-never-do) ‘Conscientious people live longer, get better grades, commit fewer crimes, earn more (along with their spouses), have greater influence, are more likely to lead companies that succeed long-term, are happier at work, and have better marriages.’
The root word of conscientious is conscience and the meaning of conscience from Merriam-Webster Dictionary is ‘the sense or consciousness of the moral goodness or blameworthiness of one’s own conduct, intentions, or character together with a feeling of obligation to do right or be good is the sense or consciousness of the moral goodness or blameworthiness of one’s own conduct, intentions, or character together with a feeling of obligation to do right or be good” or “a judgment of reason” from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2nd. ed., 1778.
I’d like to take being conscientious one step further by adding capable so when you are conscientiously capable you are not only likely to do what is right but you follow through for others as well. We are all made in the image of God the master of conscientiousness and totally capable of creating a perfect world. He Himself is conscientious and capable over our lives, loving us completely and wanting only what is best for us. And yet even though we are created in God’s image we are still very human with a weak will-power and easily tempted by the devil. The good news is that being righteous, which would be a conscientious choice, and because, as St. John tells us in 1 John 3:7 – you will be susceptible to a weak nature. So, follow and hold fast and true to God’s righteousness and you too will be righteous; developing a conscientious and very capable nature.
Upon researching conscientiousness using Wikipedia I found it very enlightening so I invite and urge you to go to Wikipedia’s ‘conscientiousness’ and read over the list of characteristics and take a self examination of how you compare.
God knows, our world would be a much better world if more people lived a consciousness lifestyle. We all need to do our part to create a better world we owe it to our children – future generations to come.

Prayer:
Dear God, help us develop a virtue of conscientiousness; learning to listen to your voice when needing to make right decisions. And through your Word help us to become conscientiously capable that we may set an example of brotherly love reflecting the image you created in us. Be with us dear God as we face the many challenges in our world today. In your Son’s name we pray. Amen
May God bless you and yours and keep you all safe and in His loving care!
Peace, love and joy in Christ Jesus!
