‘I am the light of the world’, says the Lord; ‘whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life’. John 8:12

Dear friend, when I was a little girl, I was terribly afraid of the dark and it didn’t help that my older brother would make noises to further enhance my fear. The interesting thing is that when my Mom or Dad were with me or even when I yelled at my brother, ‘I’m telling Mom’ or ‘I’m telling Dad’, I was no longer afraid because my parents gave me a sense of peace and safe assurance.

Was there a time when you were especially afraid, felt lost and forgotten?

Jesus, like a loving parent, fills our hearts with peace whenever we are alone or afraid and sometimes it could be in broad daylight that we’re afraid but knowing He is with us where ever we go we need never be afraid – He is the Light that will guide us, protect us, calm all our fears. You simply need to call on Him and when we follow His teachings, if we understand His righteousness, we have all the light we need in our life and we need never be afraid.

As the pandemic continues, ask Jesus to come into your heart to be your Light and your fears will melt away and instead you will be at peace knowing that you are a child of God and your life – in this world and the next – are in His loving arms for all eternity.

Additional Bible Verses:

“But the one who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds will be revealed as having been performed in God.” John 3:21

Our prayer for the week:

Dear God, thank you for always being there for us – forgive us when we are afraid and uncertain of the many, many problems that we face in this life. Help us to remember to keep Jesus, the Light of the world, always in our hearts and minds, knowing that we can call on Him whenever we find that we are afraid. There are so many reasons to be afraid, especially today dear God, please be with us during those times to assure us that all will be well. Help us to hold up your Light to the world for others to see and know that you are the one true God who loves us and wants to protect us from the evils of this world only asking for our love in return. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen

May God bless and protect you and yours.

Peace, love and joy in Jesus!
