Give thanks to the Lord for his righteousness….

Psalm 7:18 ‘I will thank the LORD in accordance with his justice – righteousness – I will sing the name of the LORD Most High.’

Dear friend, I pray this finds you and your loved ones safe and in good health.

This week we celebrate Thanksgiving Day and even during these pandemic days we should all give thanks for the many blessings we have received beginning with thanks to God and the abundant love and grace given to us through His son Jesus Christ.

I recently heard a commercial on the radio about a junk removal service company; the character portraying one of the workers mentioned that 2020 is the best year ever since people have come to realize what is truly important in their lives and that is the people. I would go one further to say our God is the one most important person in our lives because without Him we would have nothing. He and our loved ones are the most important reason we live and breath. It’s not the home we live in and the stuff we fill it with, it’s not the car we drive or the clothes we put on our backs – it’s what fills us spiritually.

Please close your eyes and think of your life without your family and friends. They are made in the image of our God so truth be told you have the love of God living right in your home. Your home, especially these days, should be a place of rest and rejuvenation and I for one cannot think of a better way to spend it than with those created in God’s image celebrating a lovely holiday as lovely as Thanksgiving. Keep it small to be sure you and your loved ones remain safe. Our own Thanksgiving gathering will be small but we will find time to speak to those who won’t be able to join us. When I am on my call I will be sure to express how grateful I am for them and what they truly mean to me.

I pray that God is watching over you and yours protecting you all from harm. I also pray that you truly feel His great love for you and that you will give Him all the appreciation, honor and glory He deserves.

Bible reading for the Week:

Enter his gates with thanksgiving, his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name… — Psalm 100:4

Our prayer for this week:

All good and giving God, thank you for the many blessing, the MANY BLESSINGS in our lives. Forgive us for being short sighted in our appreciation for these many blessings, for worrying about the things that shouldn’t matter as much. All that glitters, especially on the outside, is not gold – more importantly it’s what sparks that glittering feeling on the inside – the love of family and friends. Help us to remember to show our appreciation not just one day a year but every day of our lives.

We will thank the Lord in accordance with His righteousness – we will sing the name of the Lord Most High! Amen
