Genius 15:6 Abram put his faith in the LORD, who credited it to him as an act of righteousness.
Preceding this verse – Genesis 15:1 states that ‘the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision “Fear not Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.” The story of Abram and Sarah is a wonderful story of human nature and our struggles with understanding what God wants of us and how much we need Him to guide and direct us. Putting his faith in God Abram was blessed by God. When we put our faith in God we give God the highest degree of respect and in our hearts we are filled with the peace that our life will turn out according to God’s plans for our lives because God is in control and wants what is best for us. There are times in our lives when we won’t always agree with God but this is where we need to put our faith in Him. Do not listen to the ways of the world or to other people’s woos instead delve into God’s word, pray and put your faith in Him and you too will be blessed.
No doubt, we are human and we fall short, we’ll miss God’s mark, sin and afterwards feel the deepest regret for our actions but here is when it’s important to ask God’s forgiveness and to put your faith in Him again to turn your life around. And let’s face it, that first sin will more than likely not be your – one and done – there will be other times in your life when you will need to repeat this scenario all over again – practice makes perfect – so try to live according to God’s righteousness but if you slip away – repent and ask forgiveness – and because we have a gracious and loving God He will welcome you back to His loving arms.
So fear not my friend for God is your shield if you will only have faith in Him.
Bible Reading for the week:
Colossians 2: 12-17 – 12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, and patience, 13 forbearing one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, and sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Prayer for this week:
Heavenly Father, I place my trust in you for you are my shield and my strength. Protect me and guide me this week as I face challenges, those present but also those that haunt me from my past and those that cause me future concern – grant me peace. Open my heart and fill it with your love and reveal your righteousness as I live out this week. I humbly ask this in your son’s name Jesus Christ. Amen
May God bless you and keep you safe until next week!
